iheartlily photography // birds of a feather

Saturday was a beautiful day. The sun was out, the breeze was delightful and the friends I spent it with were the best. We had a little girl's night shin-dig the night before at my house and planned on doing a shoot at a park right down the street. Of course, it was a Saturday and we all felt the need to wake up after 9 am, which in my books is completely fine. After lounging at home after our "late check-out" we packed up our cooler, blankets and chairs and headed to the park. The park here - which when I think about it, has no name - is huge. It's just an open patch of land with green grass and a few trees. The shade was perfect under the one tree that had the nicest patch of grass around it.

We laughed and reminisced of all the fun times we've had over the past few years. I did a little shoot with Kahiwamai dressed in a few pieces that we will be selling in our online store - I'll have those up later! Then we succumbed to the extra breezy weather and bright sun and for a moment we were all silent watching the sky and all the glory it held.

It really was a perfect day.
You all should know Kahiwamai by now! Her daughter's birthday is coming up in a few months and she wanted to get a few shots to use at Alamea's 1st birthday party. Alamea was a trooper and such a model! I wish I could've recorded all the jumping and hollering that went on behind me while shooting - that was a sight to see.

Another sight to see? The lighting. Being a natural light photographer has taught me a lot about shooting in manual mode and capturing the right light. We took these photos at 3:00 in the afternoon and the lighting was stunning; it was perfect!

The entire day was perfect.
